Eminem spent close to half a million dollars on a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT that looks like him.

With the rise of NFTs, more and more celebrities are gravitating towards the world of virtual art. And the latest to join the bandwagon is Eminem. The renowned rapper recently purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for $450,000 USD, and as word has it – it looks just like him! Called “EminApe,” the graphic displays the signature Bored Ape figure dressed in a khaki army cap and a gold chain necklace – accessories often worn by Eminem in his performances and media interviews. The artwork was sold by BAYC member GeeGazza for the whopping sum.

As per reports, the artist was hoping that the rapper would purchase it from him. Back in November, he had tweeted, stating, “I still think @Eminem is destined to buy my @BoredApeYC one day.” Little had he known that it was destined to happen this soon.

Noting his happiness, GeeGazza thanked the rapper for the sale, with a tweet reading, “I’m living in a simulation. Madness. Let me write a lyric in your next single.” The transaction was secured by digital agency Six, which has previously worked with several other celebrities in the NFT industry, including Wu-Tang Clan, Tycho, and Galantis. It is also worthy to note that the NFT purchase isn’t Eminem’s first either. The rapper already owns 15 virtual pieces on the OpenSea platform under the name “Shady Holdings” and is expected to buy more in the time to come. NFT artists, are you listening?
